[I tried printing] The charm of PICTRAN station paper
Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture.
Chugami is a type of traditional Japanese paper that was created during the Meiji period.
To be honest, this is a photographic paper that overwhelms others .
In this article, we will briefly summarize the key points of what makes a company ``overwhelm others''.
“What kind of paper is bureau paper?”
“What are the characteristics of the station paper?”
“What kind of photos and illustrations are suitable for?”
I am writing this for those who have similar problems.

[PICTRAN] Choosing a station paper
You can see the first-class attention to detail as a product.
Regarding the reason why it can be said that it is "a paper that overwhelms others" mentioned above.
This is also related to the characteristics of the paper called bureau paper.
The concept behind the creation of the newspaper was ``pursuit of the highest image quality.''
In order to achieve the "highest image quality," it was essential to develop paper with a coating layer that completely eliminates any inhibitory factors, and in other words, does not become cloudy .
The coating layer is developed by each manufacturer through trial and error on a daily basis, but the result of this coating layer is overwhelmingly different from the others.
What was the difference?
This means that the coating layer is extremely transparent .
Prints are made by injecting ink onto photo paper to produce the colors, but even though the coat layer of the manufacturer's photo paper is said to be transparent, it seems to be quite cloudy .
I think it's easy to imagine, but even if you put ink on this cloudy coating layer, the color won't come out well.
If this happens, you'll end up using more ink to try to drown out the muddy colors and make them stand out .
Because a large amount of ink is used, there may be a noticeable difference in color when compared to photo data, and if the paper is matte, the surface may be wavy.
If the ink is completely transparent like the paper, each ink goes into the coating layer accurately, so it is possible to create an expression that is faithful to the data without any discomfort .
black tightness
As shown in the photo above, this level of blackness may not be possible with other papers.
By properly representing the black color in photo data, the photo can give the viewer a sense of power and impact .
The main feature of this paper is that it can be printed with high black density, which is a big difference compared to other papers.
soft reflection
As you can see in this photo, the loosely reflected light doesn't make you tired to look at, and it gives the entire piece a soft impression .
By bringing "softness and hardness" together, we further strengthen the sense of unity.
What kind of photos/illustrations are suitable?
Make this one piece more important
The coating layer technology mentioned above has made it possible to reproduce faithful colors, and in modern times, this paper is used by many photographers mainly for photo exhibitions.
However, it is also expensive, and I think it is one of the most difficult papers to buy for those who enjoy printing on their own.
If printing fails, you will end up losing a considerable amount of money. lol
Bureau paper is a high-quality paper used for securities, certificates of commendation, etc.
As you can imagine, this paper is often used for important documents and other items that need to be stored for a long period of time .
This is the perfect paper for printing photos and illustrations if you want to preserve them for a long time, like works of art.
Any photo/illustration is OK
This may be true because we actually print for a living, but bureau paper is especially versatile among the many types of paper available.
Even considering the trends in photography and illustrations, this paper is suitable for all types of paper , so it is relatively easy to use.
I would venture to say that photos and illustrations printed on newspapers give a painterly impression , so if you like that kind of finish, I think it's worth adopting.
The moist finish is elegant and will attract attention to your work at exhibitions .
bonus
Bureau paper is one of my favorite photo papers.
If you have experience with printing, you may know that it is really good. I feel bad that I don't have the vocabulary to express how good this is, and more than anything, it's frustrating. lol
"This is my first time printing..."
“It’s something that professionals use, right?”
You might think so, but that's not the case.
If this is the first paper you print on, you will surely discover how much fun it is to print.
We can also print from A4 size, so please consider it!
Would you like to print a trial copy of the station paper?
Just like you take a test drive when you buy a car, we want you to use the trial print service and experience the paper for yourself before printing.
You can't really understand the texture, texture, color reproduction, etc. of a wide variety of papers, such as glossy paper, matte paper, fine art paper, and Japanese paper, until you actually hold the printed material in your hands.
Even if you try to choose the best one from a large number of papers, it may be difficult. There are many people who don't know which one to choose.
You can print a trial print using your own photo data .
We have a trial set that suits your preferences, so please take advantage of it!
